Gear Essentials (RIP) was always a forward thinking design shop. The Hold is an example of their clever design work. Precision cut from stainless steel, this cock/shaft/ball weight/cage traps all your business in its grasp. For my sizing, I went with the 1 7/8" cock ring with the 1 3/8" shaft opening. As a sucker for combination rings and cages, this fit was just what the doctor ordered - which comes as no surprise given the machining excellence of Gear Essentials over the year.
The Hold carries a brawny weight of about 2/3 lb and commanding proportions overall. The shaft opening has a height of 1/2" while the cock opening halves that at 1/4". The overall device lands right at 1 1/2" wide from body to shaft. This may not sound particularly huge when compared to other beasts, but is still a bit much to discretely hide under your clothes. Further evidence of the design thinking that went into this device, the ball opening is 1 5/8 wide by 1.1" tall which is brilliant given that most two piece designs that work like this practically guarantee a severely pinched scrotum while you try to close the two halves.
It’s worth pointing out one issue - hopefully not a common one - that impacted my Hold. The left allen screw was prone to cross threading as it went in leading to the thumb screw basically being impossible to operate and no way to actually screw it in. Luckily, as a maker and hobbyist, I have a full set of taps and dies so was able to chase the threads out with a 6-32 tap to clean up the opening. I suspect this is a rare occurrence given the quality that Gear Essentials was known for.
